Re: (ET) Ring terminals for high currents

I'd agree that this would work best with heavy duty lugs rather than
ring terminals.

You may actually be able to buy pre-made cables cheaper than you can
make them. My brother just went to his local 'Battery Warehouse'
(actually a small independent place with a really nice guy who has run
it for years) and is getting 4 custom cables for $8 each. These are with
the automotive style connectors, but I think lugs would be about the
same cost. If you don't have a handy battery guy, Livewire Enterprises
in Necedah, WI at 608-565-6970 or http://wdstudio.net/livewire sells
custom cables by mail.

If you do want to make the investment in tools and time to make your
own, you can use any of the EV suppliers in addition to Grainger. For
instance, KTA Services, Wilde Evoulutions, or EV America all carry
"Magna" lugs, cable, crimping tools, etc. See
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/4214/links.html and then click
on "EV Parts Suppliers" for contact info on these and other dealers.

On a completely different tact, I've heard that US Battery is much
easier to deal with in terms of getting your choice of posts - that is,
they may be happy to provide 6 batteries with an automotive post and
avoid the whole issue.
