A while back I asked for and received help in installing the 6 batteries. I
need help again with the wiring. I needed a lift motor for my front end
mower. The old motor had a 3-wire connection (Yellow,Red and Blue wires) and
looked exactly like the power window motors from the older GM cars.
I installed a power window motor from a 1976 Cadillac. The Cadillac motor
has only a 2-wire connection and obviously takes 12 volts. I figure that it
should be able to take 18 volts.
First I unhooked the # 12 and # 51 wires from under the tractor seat. Then I
attached the red and yellow wires from the original connector to the Cadillac
motor 2-wire connector and the blue wire was left dangling. The problem is
that the motor goes up and down, but it is drawing 36 volts in either
direction. Is the blue wire also the #51 wire? Should I hook it up to the neg
on the number 3 battery. Why am I drawing 36 volts through the red or yellow
wire?
