I've done it....  once....

Another DO NOT is DO NOT turn off the main disconnect while under load!
The disconnect can handle many times it's switching current while under
load.
I think most 'burned-out' disconnects are from using it as a switch.  It
isn't.
Don't use it like one (except for the emergency of course, but don't expect
it 
to ever 'come on' again)!  That's most likely why I've never burned one
out... 
it isn't because I haven't overloaded the tractor.

A word of advice: NEVER, NEVER push that little lever arm inside the
controller with your finger while you are moving forward.. 

You have all seen the commercial on TV that says we all do dumb things
