Going backwards on the questions
The chain is to be hooked in the slot in that "u"
when the tiller is in up position to take load off strap, it's also handy when
the strap breaks.
The strap should be set up for "double", I don't
think the motor can lift the tiller directly. The "u" when it's complete
is the top hookup for the strap in the "double" position. The "u" should
be upside down so the slot is up for hooking the chain.
Don't forget to put the "lock" (a heavy cotter pin
bent straight and to fit the holes in the lift shaft) in to keep the strap from
slipping on the lift shaft.
