I think the improved steering and brakes are decisive. These are some of
the weakest points in the GE's basic design.
The differences in controls are insignificant, since upgrading to a
transistor controller eliminates them anyway. Besides, the GE circuit
cards (at least on mine) get cranky as the copper contacts oxidize; the
connections need to be cleaned periodically.
