Yeah, don't breath the outgas if you use salt water, that stuff can kill
you.
As a comment, does your "load" meter work ? If the contacts on each end of
the sense wire are good and clean it can give you an approximation of the
load while the "fuel" gage will give you a voltage reading (expanded).
Don't forget to watch your specific gravity, full charge should be approx
1.250 with all cells within .1 from each other. If you have recently added
water do several charge/discharge cycles before depending on the gravity.
