Hello all, still making progress on my WheelHorse C-185... At the
moment my charger is dead, 0 volts out but the transformer is making
a normal humming noise. From what I've read in the HomePower mag
article that's one or both of the diodes. So I've got replacement
diodes on order. Its a good thing I pulled the charger out as there
is a frayed wire that I've got to fix. But I also noticed my electric
front lift motor was unplugged and also the wires going to it had
faulty connectors. I replaced the connectors but still the lift motor
won't work, I've got the 18 volts going to it from the lift switch. I
could just replace the lift motor, I guess. Any ideas?
Also I'm still not getting reverse to work. Two of the open relays
behind the dash (one for forward and one reverse) work when I switch
it from forward to reverse and vice versa. It sounds like the reverse
contactor is working when I change to reverse and then push down on
the accelerator pedal. I'm still checking the voltages and trying to
follow them around the circuits.
The tractor seems to use a lot of power to mow & just drive around. I
looked at my mower deck motors and one of them has a bad wire
(frayed, just barely making contact and the wire insulation by the
bad part is melted from the heat) going from the circuit breaker to
the motor, so I'll fix the wire and hopefully that will help the
power useage of the mower deck.
My belts are slipping at times in the LL gear so I'll have to replace
the belts and that should help some also.
Any help is very appreciated, Tony
