Lee,
You are correct about the "New Idea" being a GE in Orange clothing. I've
had a New Idea EGT-150 tractor for about 2 years now. I purchased it
from the original owner for $500 with 3-year-old batteries, snow blower,
mower deck (3 blade version), front blade, aerator, thatcher, and some
other hand-held accessories. I think I got a good deal.
I have quite a bit of literature on the tractor. It appears from your
description that you have an EGT-80 or EGT-100. I say this based on your
mower description. The book I have shows 36", 2-blade mowers for 80 and
100's, and 42", 3-blade mowers for 120's and 150's.
This list has a lot of old messages archived on it that you might find
useful.
