Ken and others:
The rear "axle" on a front mounted mower deck is designed for removal
from its two support brackets so that when the two inch diameter wooden or
rubber rollers wear they can be replaced. Axle removal is frequently
difficult because the "axle" is jammed in place with either rust or dirt,
or
the support brackets are misaligned. Of the two decks whose axle I've
worked on, I had to persuade them with a ball peen hammer.
