I need to replace the rollers on the rear 'axle' rod. On my unit,
the rod sleeves are held in place by a bracket on each, that is
secured by some bolts. I'm going to take the bolts off, and I
believe (hope!) the rod is just 'pressed' into the sleeves. I'll
report back when I take it apart, likely by next weekend.

Ken,
The rear axle on my New Idea mower deck is held captive by a sleeve at
each end that is welded to the deck. The ends of these sleeves have been
pressed slightly (crimped) to hold the rod in place. It appears it would
be a chore to remove the axle.
