Subject: Join us on May 21st!

Dear Ricky,

I'm reaching out to thank you and the MIT guild of bellringers again for sharing your knowledge and practice with us at Reciprocity during our residency at Old North. We are hosting an open investigation event this Tuesday, May 21st and we would love for you all to join us in our research! We hope you will forward this invitation to the rest of the group.

We are entering the stage where we'd like to invite others to be part of our process. We'd love to involve you and think you would either be interested in interacting with the prompts-- and/or observing and reflecting with us as it all unfolds. I am sharing a message from Sue, a fellow artist in residence to explain the project we would like to invite you into:

I am particularly interested in thinking about both the individual and the group within the context of a site that is about this dual experience. When people enter a church - architecture designed for spiritual activity - there is both a private interaction happening, as well as a public, collective one that is happening. Somehow, entering a space set apart for spiritual reflection, animates both of these. This animation is a function of the building. Otherwise, people would stay home and reflect, pray, worship, study - under their own roofs.  There is something about a place to gather devoted to our spirits.

Over the past 3 months, we have been observing and exploring the architecture and the rhythms occurring there as a 2-5 person collective. We are now interested in gathering a larger group to invite into a series of prompts.  The prompts are specifically focussed on the large group as a form (verses individual _expression_) and will include opportunities for reflection.   These times are research for us, and will feed future choreography for live performance and film!

We hope you will join us Tuesday evening, May 21st from 6 - 8pm at Old North Church located at 193 Salem St. in Boston. Admission is free and open to the public - so if you know a friend that would be intrigued bring them along! Please let me know if you’ll be able to make it out so we know how many people to expect.

Please note - the church will be open for extended hours that night so come right in when you arrive - you do not need a ticket. Also, the building tends to be chilly, even in May, so be sure to bring some layers depending on the weather.

I hope to see you there!

Yours,

Kristin
