Dear All,
(Margaret, Eve, Lynn - please circulate to your towers and NAG)

Here's the plan for the weekend of the opening.

Friday 30th from 4pm-6pm - Sound test.
- all 8 bells ringing short burst of rounds while folks
measure the sound levels in adjoining areas. We have
8 ringers from the visitors (Bob, Ruth, Rachel, John, me
and 3 from Victoria and Lynn), but others are very welcome.
ALSO, observers would be good. I don't think there are
sound meters for all, but anecdotal is also better than nothing.
RSVP - so we can work out where to put people.

Friday 30th 6-7pm - Simulator Practice for Handlers.
- this is for those who have done some time on the rope,
but are not yet (or only just) ringing in rounds. The more
experienced are also welcome, but the focus will be on
handling. If you're about at the level of rounds and want
to ring in the open session on Saturday, then please come to
this.

Friday 30th 7- 9pm - Simulator Practice for ringers
- this is for everyone who can ring rounds and better
(including those who've just mastered it the hour before!
We'll get good bands ringing with you in the first 30min.)

Friday 30th - after 9pm .. I guess we'll go somewhere
and eat, etc.

Sat 31st - 11am is the start of the dedication.
- getting there early to mingle enthusiastically with
the crowd of non-ringers is always good.
- 11am - 12pm - speeches (incl donor), then initial
ringing by VIPs and minders (more about that later)
- 12pm - 1:30pm - OPEN ringing for all ringers who
but not handlers, cos this is the show-case stuff!
For those not ringing, official buffet lunch in Suzzallo
library and mingling with the crowd. (Ringers can sneak
out to lunch if they like, but see also 2pm below.)
Also we plan to have a table of information where people
can stop and ask about ringing, so please feel free
to help with that if you're not ringing.
- 1:30 - 2pm - continued OPEN ringing, and here
we will try and include those of handlers who
can ring respectably in rounds.
- 2pm - 3pm - lunch break for ringers (I'll try and
find a sandwich bar or something local)
- 3pm - 5pm - Simulator ringing for ringers
and handlers, with the emphasis on getting rope
time for those who've not done much/anything
in the open session.
- 5pm - ?? - Hotel Decca (directions available
on the day - walking distance .. 45th
and Roosevelt) for food, handbells, socialising etc ..

Sunday 1st
- 10am-12pm Ringing for all ringers and handlers
(some open, some simulator - proportions depending
on the sound test).
- 12pm - 1pm Lunch break.
- 1pm - 3pm Ringing for all ringers and handlers
(probably all simulator).

THEN:
- getting to the tower, Please see:
     http://www.music.washington.edu/bells/#Finding_us
Hopefully there'll be a better phone number by then,
but if not 425-318-9535 (my cell, but during ringing
I'm guessing we won't answer it, but just wave
out the window at you and send someone down if
the door's not open!)

OK .. what did I forget?? :-)

Cheers,
Rebecca
