memorial ringing on Friday (the 7th)



  I've been distracted by other ringing stuff lately, and entirely
spaced a possible "should ring" occasion.  This Friday, the 7th, is the
1st anniversary of the public transport bombings in London that killed
56 people.
   It seems to me that either church might be sympathetic to a request
for the bells (especially at ON because they'll be silent on Saturday)
but it's awfully short notice.

The British government has called for a couple of minutes of silence.
On the other hand, many of the survivors are dismissing this as window
dressing and are calling for a decent public inquiry.  We can't offer
them that, but ringing is *something* we can do (if it's not too short
notice).
