BAPC Update: [LNS Colloquium] Stefan Knirck, Assistant Professor of Physics, Harvard University: Broadband Searches for Axion Dark Matter (new)

A new event has been added to the Boston Area Physics Calendar before the next weekly digest.

New event:
Title: [LNS Colloquium] Stefan Knirck, Assistant Professor of Physics, Harvard University: Broadband Searches for Axion Dark Matter
Start: Mon, Sep 14, 2026 at 4:00 PM
End: Mon, Sep 14, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Location: MIT Campus, Laboratory for Nuclear Science, Kolker Room - Building 26, Room 414 (Hybrid - Zoom available)
Note: Zoom Link: https://mit.zoom.us/j/99963678487) Office: (617) 253-9514 Abstract: Axions are excellent dark matter candidates and would also explain why the neutron's electric dipole moment is vanishingly small. Under an external magnetic field axions can convert to photons which can be enhanced in a resonator cavity. For example, our world-leading ADMX (Axion Dark Matter eXperiment) has excluded QCD axion DM for about an octave in mass range around 4µeV (1GHz). Yet, about 6 orders of magnitude of...
