small change to bapc policies
Hi, all. I made a small change to the way that the Boston area physics
calendar mailing list works. Now postings were only be accepted if they
are addressed explicitly to bapc-late cosmos phy tufts edu (or
bapc-announce cosmos phy tufts edu, which should be used only by the
person sending the weekly calendar). Thus it will not work to have
bapc-late cosmos phy tufts edu as an entry on a mailing list or to send
a message that does not have bapc-late cosmos phy tufts edu in the To:
or CC: field. The purpose of this is to avoid any possible confusion
about why subscribers are getting the email, and to discourage spam.
I would prefer that messages sent to bapc-late cosmos phy tufts edu were
composed exclusively for this purpose. I don't mind if you CC yourself
or other people who need to know that you sent in the correction, or
anything like that. But I'd rather you didn't send the announcements
that you sent to your local announcement lists simultaneously to
bapc-late cosmos phy tufts edu. The reason for this is that for your
local list you might to send reminders, or to include attachments and
such, which you should not send to bapc. But I'm not enforcing this
policy.
