"Mesoscopic Kondo Problem"
Denis Ullmo
Abstract:
This talk describes recent work on the effect of mesoscopic fluctuations on a magnetic impurity coupled to a spatially confined electron gas. Performing Quantum Monte Carlo calculations for model chaotic quantum dots, we find that the fluctuations destroy the one-parameter scaling of thermodynamic correlators familiar from the bulk Kondo problem. The mesoscopic fluctuations of the Kondo properties can nevertheless be reproduced in the high temperature regime within a poor man's scaling framework.
