I think a "no events this week" message is fine. I can implement that.
The reply-to is a good question. (Note that the submission email address
already replies to any email that it can't process, in order to give an
error message, so it would at least be obvious to the user that they had
reached a robot.) One option is to simply set the reply-to address to the
listserv itself. The downside is noise from unsubscribe requests, but I
don't think we're such a large list that this is a problem.
