We report direct evidence of coupling of quasiparticle to phonons and we discuss the peculiar doping dependence observed in different materials, there where the critical temperature varies by a factor of three or more. The existence of a universal behavior for the nodal Fermi velocity in high temperature superconductors is discussed.
