(ET) blower take apart part 1: impeller
Starting work on the vacuum blower. First step is to get the impeller
off the motor shaft. Simople enough to remove the 6 bolts that hold the
4 inch hose connector to the body, then the two (there are two) allen
set screws came out with a 3/16 allen socket and some gentle pressure.
With this, the impeller turns on the (heavily dragging) motor shaft
about 1/8 a turn, but does not pull off. On this unit there is a 1/2
bolt welded to the end with what looks like amateur welds, but I don't
recall there being such a bolt on my old unit.
Can someone snap a quick picture of their impeller so I can check? The
unit now has penetrating oil in the set screw holes, and I'll work on it
a bit more tomorrow. Should come off without that much effort, I don't
recall if it had a keyway in it either (I would think one would rather
it slip on the shaft than break the armature if it got jammed)
