Modeling large-scale structure in a multi-survey world (new samples and new techniques)

Abstract:

We are now well into the era of “multiple” large cosmology surveys. Discrepancies with the predictions of the standard cosmological model are appearing when we combine data across surveys that are not present within each survey. Moving forward we anticipate that much of the best science will come from combining observations across surveys, but the implications for fundamental physics could be profound so we need to learn how to do this robustly! I will describe the modeling efforts being undertaken at Berkeley, and being used within the DESI collaboration, to develop new samples and new techniques for modeling data from large-scale structure surveys. I will highlight directions where further development is needed to define robust techniques for discovering new physics.
