Cosmological Concordance (Discordance?) in the DESI Era

Stephen Chen
Institute for Advanced Study

Abstract:

While the Year 1 (Y1) results are still being analyzed, data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) are already shedding new light on concordances and discordances within the standard cosmological model including the Hubble and S8 tensions and the nature of dark energy. In this talk I will discuss recent results using the DESI Y1 data to measure the cosmological clustering of matter (via weak lensing) and the expansion history of the universe (via baryon acoustic oscillations). I will pay particular attention to recent theoretical advances in perturbation theory utilized in these analyses and their future prospects.
