August 24, 1998

Dear Member of the Dental Class of 2002:

On behalf of the Gross Anatomy staff, Welcome! We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival, and are looking forward to the morning of August 31, when we finally meet you in person. I hope you are having a good time getting to know each other, the Dental School, and the Boston area.

I have included some information which might be of interest to you: the course schedule and an updated copy of the Books and Supplies list. On Monday, you will receive printed handouts of this information (and much more!) as part of the Course Syllabus, and we will go over everything in minute detail. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to email me at mrufo@opal.tufts.edu -- I check for messages daily, even on weekends.

We hope you will get in the habit of checking this website on a weekly basis, as we will be continually adding updated information in the form of sample test questions and case histories, which will help you in the mastery of what many students perceive as a difficult, if not overwhelming, subject. Please do not allow yourself to become consumed with anxiety at this point; most of our students do very well at, and find that they truly enjoy, gross anatomy.

During orientation, you will be asked to fill out index cards indicating your choice of lab partners. You will be working in groups of 5, and you can either hand in the cards to Dean Gonthier or email the information to me directly, no later than noon on Friday, August 28. (It is not necessary for each individual to notify me; if I hear from one person per group that will be sufficient). Do not worry if you can't find a full complement of 5 lab partners; we will take care of matching you up.

It's going to be a great year! See you Monday,

Myra Rufo

Course Director
