Electric Ox inverter

The inverter (at least the 1800W inverter I purchased in 2004) is apparently a modified square wave inverter. However, under load the waveform is not so good.

The waveform without load. It is a good modified square wave form. According to my oscilloscope (not especially well calibrated) it is +/- 160V with a duty cycle of 46% for a RMS voltage of 108V. Click on the image for a larger picture.

The waveform under light load. Now it looks almost like a plain square wave, +/- 115V with a duty cycle of 87% for a RMS voltage of 107V. Thus the RMS voltage is OK, but the peak voltage is much too low, which will cause problems with electronics, for example. Click on the image for a larger picture.
