[Palindrome] The Name of the Rose

I've been looking at "The Name of the Rose", linked to on the "Other 
Warmups" page of the Wiki: http://rose.mattcain.com/

It looks pretty interesting, and I recommend it as a potential Hunt 
warmup.  I haven't gone too too far yet; I've solved Confessional and 
have made pretty good headway on Chapel but haven't finished that one.  
I've gotten to a small sticking point on Belltower though, and would 
like a nudge from anyone who's solved it:

OK, so I'm positive I have the first 7 answers correctly placed.  
LEAS/AS can then go in one of two spots, and then PEAL can go in 
several.  But the only possible answer I've come up with for 10's clue 
is NAIL, and I cannot get that to work from either of the two N's on the 
board.  If NAIL does work, how?  And if not, what is the answer to 10, 
because I'm not seeing it?
