[Palindrome] Night crew
I'd like to see how likely a "night shift" is, so that we can see where
we stand, personnel-wise.
As I mentioned before, we had no more than one or two people working on
puzzles from about 1 to 8 AM on Saturday morning, and I'm convinced that
was what put us well behind the top teams. If we can get a skeleton
crew of night owls to agree to work then, I think we can really be
contenders this year.
My suggestion is this: that everybody stick around at the start of the
hunt, when the theme is revealed and the initial excitement is at its
peak. But I think the "night crew" group should plan to sleep from,
say, 6 PM to 1 AM (and plan their meal schedules accordingly), then come
in fresh-eyed and eager at 1 AM.
I know it'll be tough for the night crew to go to sleep at 6 PM,
especially with all the excitement of the hunt. There's a huge
temptation to believe that your adrenaline can take you straight through
the night. It never works, though, and we just can't have everyone
crashing at the same time. So bring your sleep masks and melatonin.
If you're willing to be on the night shift (all the cool kids are doing
it! jooooin ussss!), reply to me and NOT the whole list; after a few
days I'll post the names of the night shift to the list. I'm hoping we
can get at least 10 people total -- we must have that many night owls
(or people whose time-zone differences might make this feasible), right?
By the way, this is probably only for Friday night. Once Saturday night
rolls around, it seems like there are plenty of people at all hours.
