[Palindrome] emaName

Now that the Roll Call has been largely settled, there are a couple of general administrative things that we should start taking care of:

First, the team name discussion. Our team generally has a palindromic name, but feel free to suggest anything, either on the list or, if you'd prefer to remain anonymous(ish), directly to me. I'll compile the suggestions into a ballot for the team to vote on. Also, if one of the past leaders has the unused suggestions from last year, I'd like to include those in the mix, as well, but don't have them.

Second, the Role Call. Here, again, I don't recall all the roles we've assigned in past years. But we will need people to manage the paper binders (even if a Wiki is implemented, I still expect there will be paper to retain, as well as possible artifacts to keep track of), manage the schedule (including knowing when important Hunt activities occur, when important team activities occur (Mary Chung's), and if, as has been suggested by Qaqaq, we have a night crew, making sure that the shifts are prepared to change over smoothly), produce nametags (normally I take on this role, but for both time and technical reasons, I will be unable this year), provide technical support, and manage morale (in the past, this has been in the form of backrubs). If you would like to volunteer for these roles, or any others you think might support the team, please let me know.

Third, we'll want to get to "what is everyone bringing with them" at some point, but I think an equally valuable list might be "what skills does everyone have." Don't send me this yet, but if everyone could think about skills/capabilities not usually associated with puzzles that they could provide if called upon, it would make dealing with the more activity-oriented puzzles easier. Past Hunts have required that the team cook, draw, act, sing, play boardgames, participate in sports, and numerous other activities. A compiled list to quickly identify capable team members for whatever might happen to come up would limit the "yeah, I guess I can make a team flag out of toothpicks" discussions. Equally useful, though likely more difficult to make comprehensive, would be a list of areas of expertise. In particular, this is a Spelvin Hunt, so we need to identify our wrestling expert early on. In any event, I'm in no hurry to collate this data, but I wanted to give everyone some time to think about it before I start asking.

See you all in about a month,

Scott
