Hello,No, we have not achieved land-linedness, and I do not think it is possible. I thought I made it clear before that my cell phone works fine in both the rooms... and I volunteered its use. (The problem with the cell phone two years ago was that it was T-mobile, not that it was a cell phone! Different providers have widely varying quality on campus.)
In any case, the matter is much more complicated than simply running a long cord from one place to the next. The phone jack first needs to be *activated*, which it is not. Regular students cannot activate it, and it requires a room reservation. Last year I was able to funnel the funding for the land line through the student group I was a president of, and even then it was complicated to get it set up and took several days of having my department secretary contact appropriate people.
In light of us not having a room reservation for the room, me no longer being president of the group, and it being only two days before the mystery hunt, there is really no way to get this done. And even if we did get it activated, the room is on a different floor and not really close at all to our room.

Have we achieved land-linedness? If not, do we have someone who is willing to commit to bringing the tools and supplies necessary to let us do so? Last I heard, there was a land line somewhere in our building, on another floor. I was hoping it was on the same side of building, in a room that wasn't in use this weekend. If so, it's a mere matter (I think) of getting into that other room, running phone wire from that phone, out the window, up the wall, and into one of our windows, to a phone we've brought. If not, things get more complicated. But many of us feel that having a land line, like, *REALLY* improves the quality of life at Hunt Headquarters. So, anyone willing to take on this task? It's a major contribution to team effectiveness and morale. -- Eric (A.) _______________________________________________ Palindrome mailing list Palindrome cosmos phy tufts edu https://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/palindrome
