In my experience, this is a fairly common problem with PHPBB. I don't 
know that that will make you feel any better, but it's mostly to let 
Eric know that it's probably not something he's going to be able to 
solve, since the people managing other bulletin boards I visit have 
spent a good amount of time beating their heads against the problem 
to no avail. I would concur that it seems to be a IE-specific 
problem. Ever since I made the change to Firefox, I've had no 
troubles with this issue. My recollection, though, is that clearing 
my IE browser cache usually eliminated the problem for a few weeks.
