Re: [Palindrome] Important message regarding the Hunt

These thoughts are my own, and may not represent those of puzzle mit edu.

You want a 'mea culpa', Ken?

I'll give you a mea culpa.

I'm sorry I found Hunt03 by googling for MIT Mystery Hunt.

I'm sorry I was able to subscribe to it by sending a message to the
mailman server.

I'm sorry it wasn't set up for a real person to have to approve my
subscription.

I'm sorry that when you created the Palindrome list you didn't verify the
membership.

I'm sorry that your Fearless Leader thinks the MIT Mystery Hunt is his
little baby, to the point where he wants to create his own Hunt and
detract from the MIT one.

I'm sorry that Eric wants to edit emails people want to send to remove all
reference to team size.

I'm sorry that one of the "themes" on http://web.mit.edu/puzzle/www
is "Mystery Hunt 2004: In Which the Newbies commandeer the hunt to the
Chagrin of the Old Guard, and proceed to Make the World Suck".

I'm sorry that Eric thinks he is "above the law" in regards to sharing
answers with other teams.

I'm sorry that ALMOST EVERYTHING THAT'S GONE OVER THE PALINDROME LIST HAS
REINFORCED THE STEREOTYPE THAT THE NPL PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO STEAL THE
HUNT.

I'm sorry that the only voices of reason on your list were Mark Gottleib,
Tom Weisswange, and Mike Selinker, who all agreed that the Hunt
belongs to MIT, and that part of the problem is very large teams.

I'm sorry I didn't respond to Eric's mail asking who I was.

I'm sorry I didn't resist when I was removed from the Palindrome list.

And finally,

I'm sorry that you're getting so bent out of shape about this, one hour
before the Hunt starts.

The Hunt belongs to MIT, no matter what the NPL thinks. Start your own
Hunt if you want, but do it in June when the students don't give a damn.
