[Tufts-Nu] Be sure to submit comments on the proposed OMB federal funding regulations

Hello Tufts Neutrino folks:

I wanted to personally encourage each of you to submit comments on the proposed changes to how the US federal government awards and manages research funding, if you haven't already.  These changes would be absolutely catastrophic for science in general, and HEP in particular.  These changes would likely have impacts on you personally.  Some news coverage that lays out the stakes, if you aren't aware: https://www.aip.org/fyi/white-house-plan-to-take-over-federal-grantmaking-draws-criticism-from-science-groups

In order to make these rule changes, the government is required to allow public comments, and to respond to each of them individually.  Anyone who is directly impacted (regardless of citizenship) is allowed to contribute.  If the comments are insufficiently well responded to, the Supreme Court has (recently) ruled that that's grounds for a court to set the regulations aside.

APS has prepared a website that helps you understand the issues and prepare comments, which I encourage you to use: https://www.aps.org/initiatives/advocate-amplify/policy/federal-grants-rule-change

Note that it's essential that comments be unique (how they affect you) and not generated by AI; otherwise they can be lumped together or dismissed outright by the administration.

The deadline for comment submission is June 13, one week from today.
