Contrast that with the following quote:
    [T]he winner of one year's hunt wins the right to organize the next 
year's hunt... including the right to redefine almost any of the rules of 
the hunt.

And who am I to argue with 20 years of this paradigm working? Anyone who
disagrees is free to start their own hunt. (And I hope they do; I played
in the last Microsoft PuzzleHunt, had a great time, and think that their 
more rigid setup is entirely appropriate for its context.)
