"The Rate of Adaptations in Finite Asexual Populations”
Models in population genetics consider the effects of three main
parameters: population size, mutation rate and fitness advantage (i.e.
natural selection). The rate of accumulation of beneficial mutations, or
adaptation, in asexually reproducing populations is an observable that
can reveal the relative importance of these forces to the evolution of a
population. I will contrast the predictions of two stochastic models of
genome evolution and discuss their application to studying virus evolution.
