(ET) Pressure washer motor locked.
So about a decade ago I took an E12 motor (shunt winding) and attached
it to a Generac 2500psi pressure washer. Haven't used it in years, but
when I dragged it out today things did not work. Motor was locked up,
and trying to turn the centrifigual switch end to move the motor did
nothing. Locked up.
Great. So I removed it from the washer, took it into the shed, took it
apart. This time two of the 4 end screws broke due to being stuck
(really, put anti-seize on threads when installing please) and after
that and getting the rusted power bolts off the back came off and I was
able to check it. Armature was good, however the entire rear bearing was
frozen solid. Complete and utter wreck.
Pulled the bearing, replaced it with a spare, now putting the motor back
together. Will re-oil the pump and see how things work. One change is
I'm not going to put a contactor on the pressure washer anymore as I can
simply turn it on and off at the Tractor's PTO switch. Having a separate
one was kind of pointless.
