(ET) Wrong personal names for list email

Hi, Jack, all. Yes, this happens. Internet spam-prevention protocols
are not very compatible with mailing lists. Say some person x y com
sends to the list. If we send the message straightforwardly it will say
"From: X Y <x y com>", but it isn't being delivered by y.com but by
cosmos.phy.tufts.edu. If y.com has declared that only its mail servers
are allowed to deliver messages from any y.com address, then the message
would be rejected by recipients who obey such rules.

To avoid that we change from line to be
"From: X Y via elec-trak <elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu>". Now what's
happening is that your mailer sees that from address and decides that
the personal name of elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu is "X Y via
elec-trak". Now you compose a message which you send to
elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu without specifying any personal name and
your mailer "helpfully" supplies "X Y via elec-trak".

Probably the best thing is to ignore it. The actual email address is
fine and the message is delivered OK. There's nothing I can do here to
prevent this problem. I don't know if your mail program has something
that you could adjust. Quite possibly not.
