Re: (ET) can't get out of 1st speed

I'm no EE, nor do I portray one on Television....................  <G>  Since the armature limiter bypass contactors are controlled by SCRs, insufficient voltage present is a viable culprit.

Over the past year, I've had a persistent issue where my E-15 (early) would not always move out of the first speed when moving the speed selector past it. It has seemed like the issue may be in some way related to battery voltage, since it seemed like the issue was more likely to happen if I turned the mower blades on first (and the high current draw caused the pack voltage to drop) and then moved the speed selector forward. If I moved the speed selector forward first without having the blades on, it seemed more likely to go to higher speeds without an issue.

Last weekend while mowing, it eventually got to the point that it wouldn't move out of the first speed no matter what.

The observation that it seemed dependent on the pack voltage made me wonder if there is some kind of "limp mode" operation, such that a minimum pack voltage is needed to get the tractor to move past first speed. But, this weekend it seemed like it wasn't moving out of first speed no matter what.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mike
