(ET) ET models and dates
I just did a quick (and dirty) reduction of the spreasheet that
contains data on about 1% of the Elec-Traks. The following two lists
show the first known (to us) instance of each model as well as the
last instance of each model. In some cases, this is tricky,
especially when GE started refurbashing older machines into newer
versions. For example a "16RB" from 1974 would have started out as a
15BA from about 1970. I've also listed the 15GA and HA as separate
models, since they were produced long after the end of the original
E15 production. In other cases, prototypes were built long before
actual production, such as the I-5.
Anyway, here are the lists:

The serial number appears to break down into 4 parts:
The first character is the month, A-M (skipping I).
The second character is the year: NPRST for 1970, 71, 72, 73, and 74.
The third and forth characters are the day of the month.
The final 3 characters are a running sequence number (by model),
rolling over from 999 to 000 to 001.
Permanent magnet motors were used on the 12JA, 14AA, and 14JA. I
think that is a complete list... ;-)
