Re: (ET) FYI - Batteries at Sam's Club

I bought 6 of those from Sam's Club a couple of months ago at the same price here in the Kansas City area to put in a golf cart I have. I haven't done any load tests except to drive the vehicle. I did the same for my E-12 a few years ago. Same batteries, and they've held up fine so far. I had to buy a membership each time though which made my cost about $7 higher per battery which is a little less than for a non-member. The batteries are the only bargain in the Club as far as I can tell.

Several months ago a posted a question about the best places to get batteries for our tractors. Several replies mentioned Sam's Club as having the best price.

I have checked several places locally and the best price I had found so far was $100 for a 100 min reserve battery. Some other prices I found were rediculous - over $200 at a national chain store.

I was at the Sam's Club in Fort Wayne, IN on Sunday and they had several skids of 6 and 8 volt batteries there. They are 50 miles away, but even at $4/gal gas prices it will pay to drive there to get these.

Energizer EGC-2 battery ( 6 volt ) is $78.83.
These are made by Johnson Controls for Sam's Club. They are labeled "220 AH - 105 min. reserve capacity".

They have the threaded studs, and the lug for clamp type connectors are only about 1/2 inch tall. I don't know if the overall height would require raising the seat lid, but I already have mine raised so that won't matter. They also have a neat device for the caps - turning one handle opens all 3 caps at once.
