Re: (ET) Leaky transmission

Thanks David and thanks everyone who replied to my inquiry.  As usual I learned a lot in just 24 hours.  I'll dig into it some more and "get er' done!"   That's what I love about this listserve - the guys that hang out here I think seem to be the most experienced and one always gets lots of good quality replies to any problem posted.

Been there!  Call Harold.  You need to replace the o-rings and grease seals at the case and the bearings at the ends of the axle tubes.  The only disassembly required is to remove the axle tubes.  The parts are cheap (you may not need the bearings, but while you have it apart you may as well).

The only trick is getting the hubs off.  Hope you have a big hydraulic press handy.

I drained the gear oil out of my old E14 and replaced it with new gear oil. Thought I was doing my perfectly running tractor a favor. Since doing that it has leaked gear oil pretty good which it never leaked before. Do I need to tear the whole rear end out and replace the seals? (Something I've never attempted) Where does one find such parts for these old peerless rear ends? Thanks in advance!
