Does it matter what kind of resistor the replacement is? The original looks like a carbon composition, but can i use a carbon film, metal or wire wound? Any idea on the wattage of the original? I tested 40v across the terminals so the wiring is working. Pulled out the gauge, and opened it up. Blown resistor. Anybody know what the proper replacement is? Seems to be a carbon composition resistor with orange-black-red-gold bands. I used an online identification tool and it tells me it is a 3000 ohm +/- 5%. Is this correct? > > > -------------- next part -------------- > An HTML attachment was scrubbed... > URL: <http://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mhonarc/elec-trak/attachments/20101112/9947efbf/attachment.html> > > ------------------------------ > > Message: 2 > Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2010 20:58:46 -0500 > From: "David Roden" <etpost drmm net> > To: <elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu> > Subject: Re: (ET) Fuel Gauge - Blown Resistor > Message-ID: <4CDC5906 2497 1C2A1C3 etpost drmm net> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII > > On 12 Nov 2010 at 1:32, David Plamondon wrote: > > > orange-black-red-gold bands ... a 3000 ohm +/- 5%.
