Re: (ET) speeds 5,6,7,8 E20

Yes Ben,  I had that same thought so I raised the hood, pulled the upper control panel loose so I could see the tops of the relays and leaned over the steering well and watched them work as I drove across the driveway.  Both FR (from memory, next to FW) and FW remain energized.  I have not cleaned the shunt connections, although everything is remarkably pristine on the  control panels.

Hi Michael,

Do you know for sure that the FW coil is energized when the tractor is moving?  It sounds like Card 4 thinks too much current is being drawn when the motor is actually pushing the tractor.  In that case the FW coil wouldn't be energized when moving, but it would be when in neutral or raised up.  Have you cleaned up the shunt connections?

I need some diagnostic help!

I am unable to engage speeds 5,6,7,8 on serial number 26AE20DA. I can engage those speeds while in neutral or when the rear wheels are raised off the floor, but when moving across the driveway they will not, Field Weakening coil FW does remain energized (open).    However, once, during a moment of frustration this weekend I stomped on the foot speed control repeatedly and the tractor unexpectedly leapt to life and away I went at 9 mph but when I had to let off because the driveway ended, I was back to not being able to engage higher speeds again.
