I have a larger Parker sweeper that was not so good when powered by being pulled by the tractor, so I modified it with a large relatively slow DC motor so it is powered by the ET system. I used some motorcycle type chain and a couple of sprockets. It works pretty good. The motor was a tape drive motor from a 70s computer tape drive. You can sometimes find them on ebay. They are typically rated at 48 or 60VDC. I have a few sitting around if anyone is interested. Treadmill motors might also work. It works OK, but is very sensitive to ground speed and brush height adjustment. If the leaves get too deep in the hopper, it stops working. The hopper is small, so I'm glad it has a string you can pull to tip it out without getting off the tractor seat. Seem to spend more time driving to and from the dump site than actually picking up leaves. The leaf blower and tarp method is about as fast and does a better job. Aside from the clever vacuum assembly I've seen photos of, what are other methods of using an elec trak to clear leaves? Right now I rake onto a tarp, no tractor involved. I've seen the tow-style leaf sweepers, but they strike me as pretty cheaply assembled and largely ineffective - does anyone have positive experiences with these? In an unrelated note, do any sickle bar attachments still exist? jr _______________________________________________ Elec-trak mailing list Elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu https://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/elec-trak _______________________________________________ Elec-trak mailing list Elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu https://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/elec-trak |
