(ET) Voltage drop

Hi,
I have a New Idea ETG-150 that seems to have a large voltage drop when  
the drive motor is running. With the tranny in neutral and running in  
the first motor speed there is a 1.8V drop compared to no operation.  
Is that normal or is something wrong?
