Re: (ET) E-20 Power Charger/Inverter Tripp-Lite 36/36

Merry Christmas Mike, it's just the season's spirit that is driving me to
wish for the inverter/charger being discussed. Plus the small trees down
around my property and the fact that all my saws are 120 volt plug-ins. My
power saws are safely at my son's place for keeps. The original charger
is
performing OK now with a mechanical timer. The old original timer began to
turn on intermittently and it fell into too many pieces when I tried to fix
it. A 12 hour mechanical timer is mounted inside the cage facing the
driver
seat with a computer-type plug on the left of the timer. The power cable
hangs in the garage when disconnected. A Landis controller is mounted
inside a clear plastic connection box centered horizontally on the flat
projection of the cage. There is a single pole two-way switch recommended
by
Harry Landis on the left side to alternately switch the timer and the
Landis
controller. The Landis controller maintains the batteries and probably
would
handle the entire charge but after a long run I usually start with about 7
or 8 hours on the mechanical timer and then switch to the Landis to finish
the job. My E-20 is ready to go always using this setup. Now back to the
charger/inverter subject. byers [efh03 triad rr com] wrote: I have a

time, worked well, but for the price, and the service, no thanks on unit
#2.
I now run the 1500w/3kw vector inverters, and went back to my dumb charger.
Nice when it ran, but sickening when it smoked. - I am now doing more
research. Thanks, Raymon

Raymon,

"My E-20 charger is just about exhausted now "

What do you think is wrong with your current ET charger? They are
basically

good chargers, except for the timer and an occasional capacitor.

I'm currently using an off-board Lester connected thru the accessory
receptacle. (Please don't tell David Roden as it's probably not to code.)
The main reason is that it's one of the automatic versions and shuts
itself
off when it's done.

I have considered buying their "automatic brain" from Lester and adding it
to the on-board charger. I've got spare ET chargers, maybe even a NOS one
if you are interested.
