You're already tapping the battery pack. You could use the 18v (lift) tap
and add an appropriate regulator for the voltage of your portable player.
The regulator would stabilize the voltage as the load changes. Might need
a
noise filter, especially if you have a transistor controller.
Or get really fancy and mount an automotive CD player on the hood,
similarly
powered. I'd say mount it in the dash, but I don't think there's enough
room.
