Re: (ET) weeder cult
Dave; I am very happy with my Remington AC powered Chainsaws, in fact I
have
3 of them. Advice is to get the largest model available. Reports have shown
the Remington to be about the worst AC Powered chainsaw. I can only imagine
what one of the better (Husqvarna) saws would be like. I also have an ET
chainsaw, like most ET stuff it is built like a tank. Still, I prefer the
Remington's if I'm within 200' of an outlet. (No inverter yet)
On another note; I have a project on my bench...it's been there for quite
some time, perhaps I should finish it(but that goes against everything that
I am).
Anyway, it is a commercial string trimmmer(I have no idea of the brand
name,
but it is big). I have removed and recycled the dead ICE engine. I am
fitting a stand-up scooter motor to it. (36v 500w) The cool thing is, it
looks like it will be a simple simple retro-fit.
You won't believe this.....
1. The output shaft on the DC motor is the same size as the ice clutch's
internal diameter.
2. The face mount bolts on the DC motor are the same as the ice's.
There is basically no engineering needed...my kids could probably finish
this one.
All I have to do is JB-Weld the clutch to the motor shaft, screw the motor
to the trimmer body, and rig up a cord and switch.
Why haven't I finished it yet??

YAH I had the same thing on a battery op chainsaw. No more dead batts in
the middle of a cut. Just clipleads to 18V worth of Etrak. Then I
found out that batt op chainsaw motors dont like to work longer than
their batteries will cut. Smoke came out. Bye by good idea, back to the
noise and stink of gas saws.
