Dave, you shoulda called them on the phone immediate and they woulda sent
you a new one that wouldn't cross thread.  That was obviously a defect in
mfg.  Some things I wouldn't buy Chinese, but look for a good used one if
I didn't want to pay the price for a new 'USA' one.   Example;  auto
jacks or safety stands.  Tough job electric tools.  Socket wrenches. 
Anything that is going to take a lot of stress.  Due to your experience
will add spring compressors to the list. (safety related).  But then
again, at present, who would buy a spring compressor when they could
borrow one from a parts place?
