Re: (ET) batts
I guess the real issue is that I am not sure yet whether this thing will
run, so the thought of buying a bunch of batteries beforehand makes me a
bit
queasy.
I was thinking of getting 3 12v car batteries from the wreckers just to see
if the thing runs - run it for about 10 seconds. Then I would have the
confidence to go and make the plunge.
Feeling rather incompetent with matters electrical, I have tried to make
myself feel better by stripping down the mechanicals, which all seem to be
built like a tank.
I will go track down leads at the local golf course on Monday.
Best and thanks,
John

John, what is "sticker shock" ? The last I priced - 120 amp hour - were
about $60 each.
I'd guess you may have a chance by contacting golf courses, maybe get a
lead. Around here they all run gassers so hard to find used batts.
FWIW, I've gotten around 10 years from a set, so the $300 - $400 kinda
spreads out.
wombat - probably looking for a set next year, or try a desulfator this
winter.
