The tiller does a much more complete job, a couple passes and ready to 
plant, BUT it is slower and uses more poweron that pass. The plows 
travel musch faster, 5 to 6 mph is normal forfarm plowing but then to do 
a good job the field must be "disked" and "dragged" before planting.Most 
modern farmers use 4 to 6 bottom 16" or 18" plows, 12 ft discks and 16 
or larger drags,  one advantage of the big stuff is that it leaves the 
field much more even.
