So a kiloWatt hour is 3600 * 1000 * 1 Joule, correct?  And kWh are a 
measure 
of work done by electricity - power used for a period of time.  Meanwhile, 
kiloWatts are a measure of power.  Again we have a distinction similar to 
the one between amp-hours and amperes.

A little straightforward algebra, and the nomenclature becomes clear.
