Re: (ET) corded mower motor needed



This motor has magnets, though, so it is actually a DC motor, right?
The square thing is four diodes in a bridge configuration.
I'm wondering why the manuacturer used a permag motor.  I guess the
plusses are that it won't overspeed when the load is light and it's
probably lighter than an equivalent induction motor?

The motor is probably a universal type. Most motors in things like 
chainsaws, lawnmowers and such have brushes and will run on AC or DC. 
Problem is you need a contactor to shut off a 120 volt DC motor as mere

switches tend to weld shut.
